An Act to Amend the University of New Brunswick Act
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1 Section 1 of the University of New Brunswick Act, chapter 40 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1984, is amended
(a) in the English version by repealing the definition “Librarian”;
(b) in the French version by repealing the definition « directeur »;
(c) in the English version by repealing the definition “head” and substituting the following:
“head” means the person who is the head of an affiliated school, college or university or who is certified by the governing body of an affiliated school, college or university to be its head;
(d) in the French version by repealing the definition « bibliothécaire » and substituting the following:
« bibliothécaire » s’entend de tout membre à plein temps du personnel de bibliothèque de l’Université ayant le rang de bibliothécaire I, de bibliothécaire II, de bibliothécaire III, de bibliothécaire IV, d’archiviste I, d’archiviste II, d’archiviste III ou d’archiviste IV;
(e) in the definition “faculty member” by striking out “senior teaching associate, instructor, senior instructor, lecturer,” and substituting “assistant teaching professor, associate teaching professor, teaching professor, lecturer, research associate, senior research associate,”;
(f) in the definition “full-time” by adding “or librarians” after “teaching staff”;
(g) in the definition “teaching staff” by striking out “instructors” and “, or an administrative head of a department, of a faculty or of a school” and substituting “assistant teaching professors, associate teaching professors, teaching professors, research associates, senior research associates” and “head or chair of a department, of a faculty or of a school”, respectively;
(h) in the English version of the definition “department” by striking out “administered by a head” and substituting “administered by a chair”;
(i) by adding the following definitions in alphabetical order:
“chair”, when in reference to the chair of a department, means the person designated as chair of the department;
“contract academic instructor” means a person who is employed on a contractual part-time basis by the University to teach a for-credit course;
“contract academic librarian” means a person who is employed on a contractual part-time basis by the University as a librarian;
(j) by adding in the English version the following definition in alphabetical order:
“librarian” means a full-time member of the library staff of the University who holds the rank of librarian I, librarian II, librarian III, librarian IV, archivist I, archivist II, archivist III or archivist IV;
(k) by adding in the French version the following definition in alphabetical order:
« directeur d’une école, d’un collège ou d’une université affiliés » s’entend, s’agissant d’une école, d’un collège ou d’une université affiliés, de la personne qui en est le directeur ou dont l’organisme dirigeant atteste qu’elle en est le directeur;

(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “a Vice-Chancellor” and substituting “Vice Chancellor”;

(c) in subsection (4) by striking out “chairman” wherever it appears and substituting “chair”;

4 Section 20 of the English version of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “Acting-President” and substituting “Acting President”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “Acting-President” and substituting “Acting President”;
(c) in subsection (3) by striking out “Acting-President” wherever it appears and substituting “Acting President”.
5 The heading “OFFICES OF VICE-PRESIDENT, COMPTROLLER, REGISTRAR AND SECRETARY OF THE BOARD” preceding section 21 is amended by striking out “VICE-PRESIDENT” and substituting “PROVOST, VICE PRESIDENT”.
6 Subsection 21(1) of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
21( 1) There shall be a Provost and Vice President Academic, a Vice President Administration and Finance, a Vice President Advancement, a Vice President Research, a Comptroller, a Registrar (Fredericton) and a Registrar (Saint John).
7 Section 23 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1)
( i) in paragraph (b) of the English version by striking out “Vice-Chancellor” and substituting “Vice Chancellor”;
( ii) by repealing paragraph (c) and substituting the following:
(c) the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Vice President Administration and Finance, the Vice President Advancement and the Vice President Research;
( iii) by repealing paragraph (d);
( iv) in paragraph (g) by striking out “Director of Alumni Affairs” and substituting “Executive Director of the Associated Alumni”;
( v) in paragraph (h) by striking out “and” at the end of the paragraph;
( vi) by repealing the portion preceding paragraph (i);
( vii) in paragraph i) of the French version by adding “de” before “dix membres”;
( viii) in paragraph j) of the French version by adding “de” before “trois membres”;
( ix) in paragraph k) of the French version by adding “de” before “deux membres”;
( x) in paragraph l) of the French version by striking out “un membre” and substituting “d’un membre”;

(b) in subsection (4) by striking out “(1)(c), (d), (g), or (p)” and substituting “(1)(c), (g) or (p)”.
8 Section 25 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) of the French version by striking out “date-limite” and substituting “date limite”;
(b) by repealing subsection (2) and substituting the following:
25( 2) No person is eligible for nomination under this section unless that person is on the date prescribed for the closing of nominations a faculty member or a librarian, provided that a faculty member or librarian on leave of absence, if otherwise qualified, is eligible for nomination only if their leave of absence will expire before the date prescribed for the commencement of office.
(c) by repealing subsection (3) and substituting the following:
25( 3) No person is eligible to vote at an election conducted under this section unless that person is on the date prescribed for the election a faculty member or librarian, provided that a faculty member or librarian on leave of absence, if otherwise qualified, is eligible to vote only if the Board so provides.
(d) in subsection (7) by striking out “to be called the “Faculty Election Register”, of the names and addresses of the faculty members who are entitled to vote at an election, and the Faculty Election Register shall be open for inspection at all reasonable hours by all faculty members” and substituting “to be called the “Faculty and Librarian Election Register”, of the names and addresses of the faculty members and librarians who are entitled to vote at an election, and the Faculty and Librarian Election Register shall be open for inspection at all reasonable hours by all faculty members and librarians”.
9 Section 26 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “his successor” and substituting “their successor”.
10 Section 27 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) of the English version by striking out “his term of office, his seat” and substituting “their term of office, their seat”;
(b) in subsection (2) of the English version by striking out “his seat” and substituting “their seat”;
(c) in subsection (3) of the English version by striking out “him, his seat” and substituting “them, their seat”;
(d) in subsection (7) by striking out “within paragraphs (c) and (d) of that subsection” and substituting “within paragraph 23(1)(c)”;
(e) by repealing subsection (9) and substituting the following:
27( 9) If a vacancy in the Board occurs from any cause in respect of an elected faculty member or librarian, the vacancy shall be filled by election within three months of the vacancy occurring and any additional period that may be required to place the election within the regular academic year and an election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of this Act; despite section 25, a member elected under this subsection shall assume office from the date of the election and shall hold office from that date and for a period of three years from and inclusive of the first day of July of the academic year next following the election.
11 Section 28 of the English version of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (5) by striking out “Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board” and substituting “chair and vice chair of the Board”;
(b) by repealing subsection (6) and substituting the following:
28( 6) The chair of the Board shall preside at all meetings of the Board and shall call special meetings, at such times as the chair may consider necessary, by giving due notice to each member of the Board, and the vice chair shall act in the place of the chair when the chair is unable to act.
12 Section 30 of the Act is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:
30( 1) The Fredericton Senate, subject to the provisions of this Act, shall consist of the following members:
(a) the President and Vice Chancellor;
(b) the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Vice President Administration and Finance, the Vice President Advancement and the Vice President Research;
(c) the Piluwitahasuwin (Assistant Vice President Indigenous Engagement);
(d) the Nikanahtpat (Director of the Mi’Kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre);
(e) the Vice Provost Academic Administration;
(f) the Vice Provost Learning and Student Experience;
(g) the Vice Provost Strategic Enrolment;
(h) the Associate Vice Provost Learning Futures;
(i) the President of Saint Thomas University or a representative designated by them from time to time;
(j) the Deans of the Faculties and Schools at Fredericton;
(k) the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies;
(l) the Registrar (Fredericton);
(m) the Dean of Libraries;
(n) the Executive Director of the Associated Alumni;
(o) the elected faculty members or librarians of the Board from the Fredericton campus;
(p) one librarian from the Fredericton campus, elected by the librarians at the University;
(q) one representative of the Associated Alumni;
(r) two members appointed by and from the members of the Board exclusive of elected faculty members or librarians;
(s) one representative elected by and from the full-time graduate students of the University within the regulations under subsection 31(4);
(t) one faculty member elected from each faculty and school at Fredericton;
(u) two representatives elected by and from the combined contract academic instructors and contract academic librarians of the Fredericton campus; and
(v) additional faculty members or librarians elected at large or by faculties or schools as provided for by the Fredericton Senate within subsection (4) so that the total number of elected faculty members, librarians, contract academic instructors and contract academic librarians, including those members within paragraphs (o), (p), (t) and (u), shall equal the total number of all other members, excluding the President.
(b) by repealing subsection (2) and substituting the following:
30( 2) The Saint John Senate, subject to the provisions of this Act, shall consist of the following members:
(a) the President and Vice Chancellor;
(b) the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Vice President Administration and Finance, the Vice President Advancement and the Vice President Research;
(c) the Piluwitahasuwin (Assistant Vice President Indigenous Engagement);
(d) the Vice Provost Academic Administration;
(e) the Vice Provost Learning and Student Experience;
(f) the Vice Provost Strategic Enrolment;
(g) the Associate Vice Provost Learning Futures;
(h) the Dean of the Faculties and Schools at Saint John;
(i) the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies;
(j) the Registrar (Saint John);
(k) the Dean of Libraries;
(l) the elected faculty members or librarians of the Board from the Saint John campus;
(m) one librarian from the Saint John campus, elected by the librarians at the University;
(n) one representative of the Associated Alumni;
(o) one member appointed by and from the members of the Board exclusive of elected faculty members or librarians;
(p) one faculty member elected from each faculty and school at Saint John;
(q) one representative elected by and from the combined contract academic instructors and contract academic librarians of the Saint John campus; and
(r) additional faculty members or librarians elected at large or by faculties or schools as provided for by the Saint John Senate within subsection (4) so that the total number of elected faculty members, librarians, contract academic instructors and contract academic librarians, including those members within paragraphs (l), (m), (p) and (q), shall equal the total number of all other members, excluding the President.
(c) by repealing subsection (3);
(d) in subsection (4) by striking out “Subject to subsection (3), each” and “paragraphs (1)(l), (p) and (q) and (2)(j) and (k)” and substituting “Each” and “paragraphs (1)(p) and (t) to (v) and (2)(m) and (p) to (r)”, respectively;
(e) in subsection (5) in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by striking out “paragraphs (1)(m) and (2)(h)” and substituting “paragraphs (1)(q) and (2)(n)”.
13 Section 31 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “paragraphs 30(1)(l) and (m) and 30(2)(h)” and substituting “paragraphs 30(1)(p) and (q) and (2)(m) and (n)”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “paragraph 30(1)(n) or 30(2)(i)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(r) or (2)(o)”;
(c) in subsection (3) by striking out “paragraphs 30(1)(k) to (n), (p) and (q) or 30(2)(g) to (k)” and “paragraph 30(1)(n) or 30(2)(i)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(o), (p), (q), (r), (t) or (v) or (2)(l), (m), (n), (o), (p) or (r)” and “paragraph 30(1)(r) or (2)(o)”, respectively;
(d) in subsection (4)

14 Section 32 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “paragraphs 30(1)(k) and (n) or (2)(g) and (i)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(o) or (r) or (2)(l) or (o)”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “paragraphs 30(1)(b) and (d) to (i) or 30(2)(b) to (f)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (j), (k), (l) or (m) or (2)(b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i), (j) or (k)”;
(c) in subsection (3) by striking out “paragraph 30(1)(c)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(i)”;
(d) in subsection (4) by striking out “paragraph 30(1)(n) or 30(2)(i)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(r) or (2)(o)”.
15 Section 33 of the Act is amended
(a) in the English version by repealing subsection (5) and substituting the following:
33( 5) The President is the chair of each Senate, and it is their duty, when present, to preside at all meetings of a Senate and to call special meetings at such times as the President may think necessary by giving due notice of the meeting to each member of the Senate.
(b) by repealing subsection (6) and substituting the following:
33( 6) The Provost and Vice President Academic is vice chair of each Senate and, in the absence of the President, shall act as chair.
(c) by repealing subsection (7).
16 Section 34 of the Act is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (2) and substituting the following:
34( 2) Each Faculty Council, subject to the provisions of this Act, shall consist of the President, the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Dean of the faculty, the chairs of the departments, the faculty members and such other members as the Faculty Council shall determine.
(b) by repealing subsection (3);
(c) in subsection (4) of the English version by striking out “a Faculty” and “chairman” and substituting “a faculty” and “chair”, respectively;
(d) in subsection (6) by striking out “Director of a School be chairman” and substituting “Dean of a School be chair”.
17 The Act is amended by adding after section 34 the following:
LIBRARIES COUNCIL
34.1( 1) There shall be a Libraries Council for the University.
34.1( 2) The Libraries Council, subject to the provisions of this Act, shall consist of the President, the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Dean of Libraries, all of the librarians at the University except the librarians employed in the Faculty of Law and such other members as the Libraries Council shall determine.
34.1( 3) The Dean of Libraries is chair of the Libraries Council.
34.1( 4) The Secretary of the Libraries Council shall be appointed by the Council.
18 Section 35 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “the Vice-President (Academic), the Vice-President (Saint John), the Vice-President (Research), the Dean of Renaissance College” and substituting “the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Vice President Research, the Dean of Libraries”;
(b) in subsection (2) of the English version by striking out “whenever he may” and substituting “whenever the President may”;
(c) by repealing subsection (4) and substituting the following:
35( 4) The President is the chair of the Board of Deans and, in the President’s absence at meetings of the Board, the Provost and Vice President Academic shall act as chair.
19 Paragraph 36(i) of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “his duties” wherever it appears and substituting “their duties”.
20 Subsection 37(1) of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “his” and substituting “their”.
21 Subsection 38(2) of the Act is amended adding “the Libraries Council,” after “the Faculty Councils,”.
22 Section 40 of the Act is amended
(a) in paragraph (h) by adding “or the Libraries Council” after “a Faculty Council”;
(b) by repealing paragraph (u) and substituting the following:
(u) to require written or oral reports from the various Faculty Councils or student councils, the Libraries Council, members of the teaching staff or librarians, as it may deem advisable, and to require the attendance, if it so desires, of any member of the teaching staff, librarian or student, and as a result of the reports and attendances to make recommendations to the Board as to it may seem meet;
(c) in paragraph (w) by striking out “any faculty” and “the Faculty Council” and substituting “any faculty or the Libraries Council” and “the Faculty Council or the Libraries Council”, respectively;
(d) in paragraph (y) by adding “the Libraries Council” before “and the Faculty Councils”.
23 Section 41 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) of the English version by striking out “paragraphs 49(i)” and substituting “paragraphs 40(i)”;
(b) in subsection (6) by striking out “to a Faculty Council shall be transmitted through the Dean of the Faculty” and substituting “to a Faculty Council or the Libraries Council shall be transmitted through the Dean of the faculty or the Dean of Libraries, as the case may be”.
24 Section 42 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “paragraphs 30(1)(l), (p) and (q) or 30(2)(j) and (k)” and substituting “paragraph 30(1)(p), (t), (u) or (v) or (2)(m), (p), (q) or (r)”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “on a Faculty Council” and “or a Faculty Council,” and substituting “on a Faculty Council, on the Libraries Council” and “, a Faculty Council or the Libraries Council,”, respectively.
25 Subsection 44(1) of the Act is amended in the English version by striking out “chairman” and “Chairman” and substituting “chair”.
26 The Act is amended by adding after section 49 the following:
POWERS OF THE LIBRARIES COUNCIL
49.1 The Libraries Council, subject to the provisions of this Act, may, with respect to the appropriate campus and Senate,
(a) fix the time and place of its meetings and make rules and regulations for governing its proceedings, including the determination of the quorum necessary for the transaction of business;
(b) consider and report to the Senate upon the matters affecting the librarians as to the Libraries Council may seem meet; and
(c) generally deal with all such matters as may be assigned to it by the Board or by the Senate, provided that in the latter case the matters fall within the powers conferred upon the Senate by this Act.
49.2 The Libraries Council is empowered to constitute such committees of the Council as the Council may deem meet and to confer upon any such committee authority to act for the Council with respect to any matter or class or classes of matters vested in the Council, provided that every regulation providing for the constitution of a committee with delegated power is subject to the approval of the appropriate Senate, as provided in section 49.3, and to the prior approval of, and to annulment by, the Board.
49.3( 1) A copy of every general rule or regulation made by the Libraries Council shall within ten days of the passing thereof be transmitted to the Secretary of the appropriate Senate, and no general rule or regulation shall have force until it is approved by that Senate.
49.3( 2) A Senate may determine the class or classes of rules or regulations within subsection (1) and may exempt from prior approval any class or classes of rules or regulations and may at any time withdraw that exemption.
49.3( 3) A Senate may at any time withdraw its approval of any rule or regulation within subsection (1) and may at any time annul a rule or regulation exempted under subsection (2), and from and after the withdrawal or annulment, the rule or regulation shall cease to have any force.
49.4 The Libraries Council may advise the President in any matter affecting the interests of the University, whether academic or in relation to discipline, provided that the power and authority of the President shall not be subject to control by reason thereof.
27 Section 51 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “assigned to him” and substituting “assigned to the President”.
28 Subsection 53(2) of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “he is approved” and “appoint him” and substituting “the person is approved” and “appoint them”, respectively.
29 Section 55 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “his teaching ability” and substituting “their teaching ability”.
30 Section 58 of the English version of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “report his action” and substituting “report the President’s action”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “as he may” and substituting “as the President may”.
31 Section 59 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1)
( i) in paragraph (a) by striking out “he” and “his” wherever they appear and substituting “the President” and “the President’s”, respectively;
( ii) by repealing paragraph (b) and substituting the following:
(b) summon meetings of the Libraries Council, any Faculty Council or any school whenever the President may deem it necessary to do so, and at the President’s discretion convene joint meetings of the Libraries Council, all the Faculty Councils and all the schools or any two or more of them;
( iii) in paragraph (d) of the English version by striking out “he judges” and substituting “the President judges”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “his” wherever it appears and “he shall” and substituting “the President’s” and “the President shall”, respectively.
32 Section 60 of the English version of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “he” wherever it appears and “him” and substituting “the President”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “he” wherever it appears and substituting “the President”.
33 Section 62 of the English version of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
62 The President may delegate any of the President’s powers, duties or functions as they may deem advisable and prescribe conditions governing the exercise of any delegated power, duty or function, provided that, in the absence of express provision made by the President, a power delegated shall not include a power of sub-delegation.
34 The heading “POWERS OF THE VICE-PRESIDENTS” preceding section 63 of the Act is amended by striking out “VICE-PRESIDENTS” and substituting “PROVOST AND VICE PRESIDENTS”.
35 Section 63 of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
63 The Provost and Vice President Academic, in addition to the powers, functions and duties assigned in other sections of this Act, shall act for the President in academic matters that the President may, within the President’s own powers, delegate to them.
36 Section 64 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1)
( i) in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by striking out “Vice-President (Finance and Administration)” and substituting “Vice President Administration and Finance”;
( ii) in paragraph (a) by striking out “of the Fredericton campus”;
( iii) in paragraph (b) of the English version by striking out “to him” and “its or his” and substituting “to the Vice President Administration and Finance” and “their”, respectively;
(b) by repealing subsection (2);
(c) in subsection (3) of the English version
( i) in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by striking out “Vice-President (Research)” and substituting “Vice President Research”;
( ii) in paragraph (d) by striking out “Vice-President (Research)” and substituting “Vice President Research”;
(d) by adding after subsection (3) the following:
64( 4) The Vice President Advancement shall
(a) be responsible to the President for the coordination and control of the advancement functions of the University; and
(b) perform such additional duties and have such powers as may from time to time be assigned to the Vice President Advancement by the Board or by the President within their powers of delegation.
37 Section 65 of the Act is amended
(a) in paragraph (a) by striking out “Vice-President (Finance and Administration)” and “as his” and substituting “Vice President Administration and Finance” and “as their”, respectively;
(b) in paragraph (d) of the English version by striking out “to him” and substituting “to the Comptroller”.
38 Section 66 of the Act is amended by striking out “The Assistant” and “in his” and substituting “An Assistant” and “in the Comptroller’s”, respectively.
39 Section 67 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “to him” and substituting “to the Secretary”.
40 Section 69 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “he is” and “to him” and substituting “the Dean is” and “to the Dean”, respectively;
(b) in subsection (2) of the English version by striking out “head” and substituting “chair”;
(c) in subsection (3) by striking out “he shall” and “in his” and substituting “the Dean shall” and “in their”, respectively;
(d) in subsection (4) by striking out “of his” and substituting “of the Dean’s”.
41 The Act is amended by adding after section 69 the following:
DEAN OF LIBRARIES
69.1( 1) The Dean of Libraries is the chief executive officer of the libraries at the University, with the exception of the Law Library, and, subject to the control of the President, has general supervision over and direction of the work of the libraries and the librarians, other than the librarians of the Faculty of Law, and shall have such other powers and duties as may be assigned to the Dean of Libraries by the President.
69.1( 2) The Dean of Libraries is responsible for providing that the minutes of the Libraries Council are properly kept, and the Dean of Libraries shall keep in their possession copies of all minutes and records of the Libraries Council.
69.1( 3) The Dean of Libraries, subject to the approval of the President, may delegate any of their powers or duties under this section subject to such restrictions and conditions as may be imposed, provided that a power delegated shall not include a power of sub-delegation.
42 Section 70 of the Act is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:
70( 1) The General Faculty of the University shall consist of the members of the Faculty Councils, the members of the Libraries Council, the Deans of Schools of the University, the Vice President Administration and Finance, the Registrars, the Comptroller, the Assistant Comptrollers, the Dean of Libraries and such other members or class or classes of members, subject to such conditions of membership, as the Senates, subject to the approval of the Board, shall determine.
(b) in subsection (2) by adding “or to the Libraries Council,” after “Board of Deans,”;
(c) in subsection (3) of the English version by striking out “whenever he” and substituting “whenever the President”;
(d) in subsection (4) by striking out “chairman” wherever it appears and “Vice-President (Academic)” and substituting “chair” and “Provost and Vice President Academic”, respectively.
43 Section 74 of the Act is amended
(a) by adding after subsection (4) the following:
74( 4.1) The Libraries Council, in accordance with any rules and regulations that it determines or approves, subject to subsection 42(2), may provide for student representation on, or appoint such representation to, the Libraries Council.
(b) by adding “or the Libraries Council” after “Faculty Council on the appropriate campus”;
(c) in subsection (8) of the English version by striking out “he is or may deem himself” and substituting “they are or may deem themselves”;
(d) in subsection (9) by adding “, the Libraries Council” after “the Senates”.
44 Section 75 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “he may” and substituting “the person may”.
45 Section 80 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “his”.
46 Subsection 84(3) of the Act is amended by striking out “to the appropriate Faculty Councils” and substituting “to the Libraries Council or the appropriate Faculty Councils,”.
47 Section 85 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (2) of the English version by striking out “chairman” wherever it appears and substituting “chair”;
(b) in subsection (3) of the English version by striking out “chairman” and substituting “chair”;
(c) in subsection (4) by striking out “30(1)(k) or 30(2)(g) and, by virtue of office, a member within paragraphs paragraphs 30(1)(c.1) and (d) to (f) or (2)(c) and (d)” and substituting “30(1)(o) or (2)(l) and, by virtue of office, a member within paragraph 30(1)(c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (j), (k) or (m) or (2)(c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) or (k)”.
48 Section 88 of the English version of the Act is amended by striking out “by him” and “his office” and substituting “by the member” and “their office”, respectively.
